PONDER STUDIO IS AN INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN OFFICE, PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING THOUGHTFUL SPACES THAT PUSH THE BOUNDARIES AND NOTIONS OF HOW WE INTERACT WITH THE BUILT FABRIC AROUND US.
FROM RESIDENTIAL, TO COMMERCIAL AND ADAPTIVE REUSE PROJECTS, WE RESPOND AND DESIGN LED BY A STRONG WHY.
Who we are.
Ponder Studio was founded in 2021 by Billy Bobolas and has since developed a reputation for its tempered and considered multidisciplinary approach to the built form. We are in the business of building sustainable relationships, both intangible and tangible, that embellish, and embrace, the journey of shaping our cities.
Our designs draw upon theoretical precedents, utilitarian rationale and an artistic interpretation of light and performance, underpinned by a strong why in order to inform tangible results.
The foundation of our practice is residential interior architectural design, where we take pride in fostering a deep understanding of what motivates our need for expansion and building, resulting in highly responsive design, informed by its context, whilst delivering on its requirements.
For us, design is much more than the fundamentals, it’s human imagination and thought at its fullest potential, crafted by artisans into physical form, embellished by our musings in history, style, technology, sustainability and philosophy.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung & Bun Wurrung people of the Eastern Kulin nation on whose country we collaborate and create.
Likewise, we acknowledge the traditional custodians throughout Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands where our projects are placed. We recognize their ongoing connection to country, land and waters that were never ceded and pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future generations.
Our Values
-
Above all other values is Why. We are decision makers and problem solvers when all is boiled down, and having a clear why advances our ability to design and communicate clearly beyond the rest. Employing a ‘first principles’ mindset and a focus on listening enables us to provide unparalleled service and more importantly, designs that are purposeful in their creation and lifespan.
-
Having a well defined goal enables our team to understand why and further-more what and how design will be informed. From context & site factors to client lifestyle & habits, we design with function and form informing one another. The outcome of which, are intimate and community wide spatial experiences.
-
With over half a decade’s experience and expertise in the custom built cabinetry and renovation space enables us to design meaningfully whist ensuring little to no compromises are made. We ensure that the right materials are chosen for robustness and longevity, ensuring that no surface is left un-considered and we are on, or under budget.
-
As designers we interpret information and create plans for beautiful spaces to be built, in doing so, we collaborate with like-minded industry professionals. Having a sense of ownership in the work is crucial in the best to be brought out at all stages of the project. This not only results in a well executed project, but stronger relationships moving into the future.
-
The concept of adaptive reuse is based on the action of understanding and envisaging the potential of existing site conditions and breathing life into the invisible and physical attributes of site. Our dedication to the environment and sustainable practice is championed by the act of adaptive reuse as a method in reducing the carbon footprint of new construction. Character, uniqueness and responsibility are a handful of attributes that practicing reuse can offer.
-
The end user of our designs of spatial experience extends beyond the boundaries of site into the wider community. In understanding this concept, designs and people at Ponder Studio not only advocate for the client, but the wider community and how our designs interpret and behave in the built environment as visual and textural place makers. We thread the needle of social fabric carefully, ensuring the tapestry remains true to its message
